The most perfect Rice Krispie Treats just require two extra steps & one secret ingredient!
12 Tablespoons Salted Butter (6oz)
3/4 C Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
16oz Mini Marshmallows
9 C Crispy Rice Cereal
1) Place your butter in a saucepan & melt over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter begins to brown & give off a caramel-y & nutty aroma.
2) Stir in the Sweetened Condensed Milk & Vanilla. Set aside.
3) Spread the marshmallows on a parchment lined baking sheet & set your oven to broil.
4) Place the pan of mini marshmallows on the center rack of the oven & “roast” them under the broiler for 4-8 minutes depending on the strength of your broiler. Make sure to keep a close eye on the marshmallows so they don’t burn! And make sure to keep any over laying parchment paper away from the broiler.
5) Once the marshmallows are lightly browned & toasted, remove them from the oven & immediately add them to the saucepan of butter & condensed milk OR move all ingredients to a separate large bowl for mixing.
6) Stir the toasted marshmallows with the butter & condensed milk until just barely combined. Immediately begin adding the crispy rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture & stir to combine.
7) Carefully pour the rice krispie mixture into a greased 9×13 pan & spread evenly. Use a greased spatula to make the process of smoothing it easier.
8) Wait about an hour to slice & enjoy the rice krispie treats. Enjoy!
Brown the butter in an extra large stockpot or dutch oven to cut down on the amount of dishes to clean up!
